Amira Brooks Flamenco

Performance

Amira Brooks – Creative Director, Amira Brooks Flamenco

I began my flamenco dance journey over 25 years ago, and from the very first encounter, I was completely hooked. Flamenco has a way of capturing you—it is a space of absolute expression where every feeling and experience is welcome, and nothing is ever “too much.”

My formal training began in Vancouver, BC, in 2000, and soon after I traveled to Spain to deepen my studies. When I returned to my hometown of Kelowna, I continued learning through digital platforms as well as by attending out-of-town workshops and intensives.

What draws me most to flamenco is its fascinating history, rich cultural roots, and its embodiment of female empowerment and strength. It is more than just a dance form—it is a way of life. My mission is to nurture and grow a vibrant flamenco community in Kelowna, one that is welcoming, supportive, and lasting for all who wish to be a part of it.
