Ashraf Sheibaniaghdam
Ashraf Sheibaniaghdam is a Toronto-area visual artist and former Associate Professor of Persian Language and Literature. Her transition from literature to visual art continues a lifelong engagement with storytelling, memory, and human experience.Working primarily in acrylic and expressive abstraction, she explores themes of memory, migration, resilience, absence, belonging, and transformation. Through layered textures, gestural brushwork, and contrasts of darkness and light, her paintings create emotional landscapes where personal experience meets universal feeling.Her work has been exhibited in galleries and cultural spaces across the Greater Toronto Area, and she continues to develop a practice shaped by both her Iranian cultural heritage and her experience of rebuilding life in Canada.
