Skukuza: Portraits from the Bush
I am a wildlife photographer from Toronto. I recently travelled to South Africa’s Kruger National Park - a massive conservation area where animals roam free. In addition to the “Big Five”, Kruger is home to many creatures, including over 500 different birds. This past summer was marked by huge floods, which led to the closure of much of the park. Despite this, my time in the bush provided fantastic opportunities for intimate moments with many different animals.
My goal is to invite you, the observer, to see these subjects not as distant specimens, but as individuals with agency and emotion. I hope to inspire an appreciation for the conservation efforts dedicated to preserving the incredible beauty that makes up the world around us.
