Carrie Schurig
I am a Calgary-based artist whose work spans pencil drawing, mixed media, and painted resin. Both conceptual and representational, my pieces explore memory, emotion, and the layered connections between people and place. My current series is deeply rooted in my relationship with the land, reflecting on how it shapes identity, belonging, and our sense of time.
In addition to my studio practice, I am a Visual Arts Specialist and Fine Arts Learning Leader with the Calgary Board of Education, guiding students and communities to engage meaningfully with the arts. I am also embarking on a Master of Education for Change, exploring how education can drive social and environmental transformation.
Through my art and teaching, I aim to offer a distinct, thoughtful, and imaginative perspective on the world—one that invites reflection, curiosity, and connection.
