CarveWel Creations
Tyler Welfing of CarveWel Creations.
After almost 20 years in the cabinet industry I had the opportunity to help professional chainsaw carvers do an ice project in 2021 for the vernon winter carnival. I fell in love with sculpting on the spot, they were primarily wood sculptors so I decided to by a chainsaw and try wood myself. Within 6 months I was invited to my first competition in Hope BC where I placed 2nd in amateur. The fire had been lit. I decided that this is what I wanted to do so I quit my job and went full time. It has now been 4 years of getting to do this for a living and competing in some of the biggest competitions in canada including Chetwynd, Hope, Powell River, Campbell river, Ontario, Edmonton and Saskatchewan. With a few podium finishes and several peoples and carvers choice awards. Next year I will be expanding and competing outside of Canada including the English open and several events in the USA.
