Christian Frederiksen
I’ve lived in Calgary all my life. I studied illustration at Alberta University of the Arts back when it was called ACAD. I enjoy hiking in desolate places, taking photos of light and patterns, concerts at the Calgary Philharmonic, reading actual books, making spreadsheets, movies that make me uncomfortable, fancy loose leaf tea, and sinking into bed at night with my true love.I focus on landscapes that I have walked through, moments of life that I see day to day, and animals that roam my urban habitat. I avoid boredom and repetition by depicting subjects through constant experimentation with form and technique. In this way I aim to show the endless variety of what is in the world, and how things are experienced, even within my limited view.
