Visual Art

Grace was born and raised in Squamish BC, Canada. She grew up with a love of art, playing with pencil crayon and watercolour for the majority of her childhood. However, she fell in love with oil paint as she got older and began to grow into her potential as an artist. The natural world has always been a point of inspiration for her work, but recently Grace has been fascinated by vast cloudscapes. Her love of oil paints combined with her fascination with clouds has resulted in continuous inspiration, rich layers of colour, and preserved moments of the ever-changing sky.

Grace’s education in art has consisted of personal training in the French Academic System of Art under her mentor Angela Muellers, a local Squamish artist. This education included intensive realism work with both graphite and oil paint. She is continuing her artistic studies by attending the University of British Columbia in Kelowna, where she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

What Your Support Makes Possible
My creative process is focused on producing artwork that highlights my act of stepping away from the chaos of life to find moments of calm. I work to preserve these frozen moments of the present by translating them into paintings. While these painted snapshots of clouds are frozen in their progression across the substrates, my thin build-up of oil paint layers create movement and maintain the energy that lives naturally in the real moment. My intention for my paintings is to not only investigate light in its interactions with the ever-changing sky, but to radiate a sense of tranquility — showcasing the delicate, dramatic, and transient nature of clouds. With the state of the world as of late, I believe that finding movements to exist purely in the present is essential to creating a sense of balance amidst the chaos — I encourage you to come experience a moment of calm.
