Gurlie Guy

Fashion Design

Since graduating from NSCAD University in 2021, they have been costume designing for theatre and film. Within the last year they launched their own clothing brand Gurlie Guy. Gurlie Guy is derived from Everettes playful style of collaging with clothes, often re-working several pairs of jeans or scrubs to create what they call “Franken-Fashion.” Taking these garments apart and putting them back together for a new silhouette. They have always had a lifelong practice of drawing and painting, and have brought that into their brand through fabric, leather and bleach painting. Gurlie Guy is inspired by the gender-bending aesthetics within early punk movements, often attempting to break traditional expectations of masculinity and femininity in fashion. To Everette fashion has always been the playground in which to explore gender, using fashion as both an identity marker and an armour to navigate the world.
