John S Goulet
In 1970, my mother gave me an Asahi Pentax SP Spotmatic II. From that morning forward, I saw the world differently. My first subject was our cat. Then I began composing. A man's eye, torn from a magazine and set askew in the socket of a bleached deer skull. My little sister, legs folded beneath her, watching television in soft focus. For fifty years, I have flown as a pilot into some of the most remote corners of the world, including the South Pacific, the Niger Delta, the Orinoco, the Masai Mara, the Amazon, and the Nile. I think of myself less as a photographer than as a storyteller. I capture moments and bring them home so I can keep the story alive.I’ve not pursued photography commercially, but my work has appeared in Condé Nast Traveler (Maldives), National Geographic Your Shot (Croatia), Forbes Travel (Bali), Die Zeit (Germany), Aman Resorts (Indonesia), Six Senses (Maldives), Grid Magazine (Philippines), Rotor&Wing (Nigeria) and Canadian Aviation (Fiji), among others.
