Kate Maura
The intersection of art and science inspires my art practice. I have always had a very close relationship with nature. I read about biology, botany, quantum physics and most recently neuroaesthetics. It is the immense power of being immersed in nature, which affects all of the senses and its transformative experience to our minds and bodies that I wish to convey in my art. Synthesizing analogue and digital opens my visual language to endless possibilities, layering the many viewpoints and forms that capture my attention when drawing outdoors. Insects, birds, trees, leaves, florals, clouds any of these forms will enter into my works to create a world of their own, as I spend hours enraptured by the beauty of these many ephemeral moments. It is how it makes me feel, the wonder of it all that I hope you can feel in these abstract lyrical works.
