Liz Chamberlain

Visual Art

For Liz, creativity is a way of being. Her art is a practice in processing emotions, moving energy, and connecting to inner wisdom. It evolves from curiosity as colour playfully dances across a canvas or page. The mind quiets and observes, as the heart and soul take over for a little while.  In this space, colour is a fluid symbol, expressing and evoking emotion, providing perspective, antidote and transformation. At the heart of her art is freedom and joy. Painting calms and soothes the nervous system, creating space for choosing compassion, a place of being fully in control of choices, while simultaneously allowing things to unfold intuitively. She believes that experiencing joy builds resiliency, preparing us to navigate more challenging emotions. Liz is a Certified Intentional Creativity® (IC) Educator.  IC is making something with love while being present and mindful. She also makes handmade watercolour paint intentionally curated to entice the Muse - Paint with heART.

And our awareness of this gives us the power to choose the our influence. My passion, the medium that brings the most pleasure and inspired connection with my own deep wisdom, comes from pouring love into pigment. My studio is a colourful lab where I create luscious handmade watercolour paint, intentionally curated to entice the Muse. This is a time of soothing meditative self-care, inviting pause in daily doings, creating a sovereign quiet and peaceful space, for gratitude, noticing beauty, feeling simple pleasures, and acknowledging the gifts of life. I believe whole heartedly that this practice amplifies my daily perceptions and experiences. Developing recipes, sourcing pigments, and creating custom colours and palettes takes time and devotion. Every colour requires a unique binder recipe, adjusted for each pigment, to create the desired balance between drying and rewetability, colour saturation and fixability. Engaging in ritual, every batch is lovingly mulled by hand, consciously tested, and tenderly dried in layers to maximize pan filling and
