Mads Art
I’m an emerging part-time artist and a teacher candidate, on track to be a certified Primary/Junior educator by April. I’m also a competitive swim coach and former athlete, having spent 12 years as a competitive swimmer. My swim career took me to the University of Calgary, where I pursued my passion for visual fine arts.
My creative approach as an artist is rooted in storytelling through stillness. I draw inspiration from real places and experiences, working mainly in oil and acrylic to capture quiet, reflective landscapes filled with mood and memory. One of my pieces of fishing shacks on a frozen lake was inspired by a teaching placement I completed in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories earlier this year.
Outside of art and education, I’m a published children’s book author on Amazon and deeply passionate about working with children, art history, and of course, swimming.
