Marilú Rivera
Marilú Rivera is a contemporary, self-taught artist born in Oaxaca, Mexico, in 1991 and currently living in Toronto. She began painting in 2011, discovering her artistic voice through her piece Hunters, which encouraged her to pursue painting as a lifelong practice.
Her work is shaped by the contrast between tradition and cultural diversity, reflecting her journey from a small town rooted in heritage to a multicultural city filled with evolving identities. Through her paintings, Marilú explores life, resilience, and the emotional challenges of the human experience.
Working primarily on canvas with various mediums, she finds her greatest inspiration in nature. The lake near her Toronto studio offers a quiet space for reflection, where the flow of water and light continue to influence her creative process.
