Mehdi Rezania

Music

Mehdi Rezania is a composer, santur player, and music scholar. He has a BFA and an MA in music composition from York University, Toronto, and an MA and a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Alberta. He has received several grants for his projects from the Canada Council for Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, and Edmonton Arts Council. He has published four music albums and presented papers at multiple national and international conferences, including SEM, MESA, ICTM, ICCAMT, and BFE. His interest is in the contemporary classical music of Iran inside and outside the country, the impact of politics, migration, and globalization on its theory, performance, composition, and dissemination.
