Nakia Kamachi (artcrittter)
My name is Nakia, I grew up in the small town of Bragg Creek, Alberta, where the serenity of the outdoors sparked my lifelong love of nature and exploration. Now based in Calgary, I use my art to delve into the surreal, using a variety of mediums to explore and represent the intense range of emotions I feel. My work serves to physically embody these emotions and commonly explores feelings of curiosity, anxiety, pain, growth, love and loss. I began my artistic journey primarily as a pointillism ink artist under the username 'artcrittter', however in the past year I discovered collage as an art form, which quickly became a passion. The endless possible combinations of colours, textures and mediums have inspired me to create layered, unique pieces. As a skier, mountain biker, and lifelong lover of strange creatures, the natural world continuously informs my work. Through these physical expressions, I invite others into my world of strange and chaotic beauty.
