Nicole Singer
I am a Toronto-born artist currently living and working in Ottawa, Ontario. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University in 2017, majoring in Jewellery and Metalsmithing with a minor in Art History. Alongside my studio practice, I have pursued training in gemmology, earning credentials from the Canadian Gemmological Association and the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (FGA, DGA).While my formal training is rooted in jewellery and metalsmithing, my practice has expanded into sculptural work that engages with material, light, and perspective. Using enamel, acrylic, and glass, I layer translucent and reflective surfaces to create an effect that shifts with light and movement. Inspired by optical illusions and the limits of human visual perception, my work invites viewers to question how colour, depth, and reflection are interpreted.
