No-merit Mills
I am a mixed media artist whose work includes mosaics, fabric collage, and found object compositions. My work explores themes like politics, womanhood, rural upbringing and the St. Lawrence Seaway and its history which is both personal and political to me. Everything I do has a rainbow, pink and purple colour palette with lots of sparkle, and I often use words from my journal for background filler. The bright, girly colours usually directly contrast the text that goes with each piece, which often contain darker narratives. Everything is about juxtapositions; although the colour palette is feminine and child-like, the words are often sad or angry, and the found objects are primarily ones which have been discarded or lost, which I then find on the street.
