Zara Ram grew up in different parts of the world and has been exposed to a wide variety of art styles; in many ways her art work is a distillation of the many cultures and art styles that she has experienced.
Zara has experienced the artwork of many cultures, and it has given her an unusual background in art appreciation. She's influenced by a wide range of artistic movements and styles. These include, but are not limited to, pre-and Islamic art, the Glasgow style of Art Nouveau, ceremonial East African masks, and more.
Zara draws exclusively in black and white. In a world where we constantly navigate shades of grey, the stark contrast of black and white provides clarity and relief.
