Rachel Steen
Rachel Steen is an Alberta artist painting the landscapes and wildlife of Canada through colour, memory and imagination. Her work carries a sense of nostalgia, sometimes even for places she's never been, as though they're half remembered rather than simply observed. Through luminous colour and expressive brushwork, she captures wild places and the animals that inhabit them with a sense of wonder and familiarity. Her current collection, Northern Reverie, is a love letter to the Canada she knows, remembers and imagines.
