Rodney Cohen
Born in South Africa and trained as an Industrial Designer and Artist.
I explores colour, form and perception through sketch-based digital and traditional processes. My work is rooted in observation, drawing inspiration from nature, architecture and everyday visual patterns.
We know that artists have changed the colours of a work by using different techniques.
My interest differed, I wanted to know & understand how different colours affect the "feel" of the same work & this led to digital art and the OPUS Series - from my sketches to a digital painting.
In the MOTIF Series I use digitized segments of a finished painting & combine them to create different iterations.
A computer monitor became a canvas and apps my brush, paints, pastels, inks and pencils.
This led me further to fabric design. The plerasure I get creating these designs has been wonderful. You can view some on my website www.rodneycohen.com
