I have been a hairstylist for 13 years, which has given me a lot of time to think about beauty. I am addicted to the feeling that washes over me as I watch my client look in the mirror with this radiant glow of confidence, it flows through them as they take in their new appearance. But then there's the much heavier reality that I see all too often... the moments where I witness just how much despair we feel as we compare ourselves to unreasonable beauty standards. As much as we can rationalize that they are unrealistic, all the marketing has created a deeply emotional connection between our worth as humans and our outward appearance.

I put together this collection of wigs to spark a discussion about self expression. It is important to notice and reject the feelings of fear and judgement that arise as we style ourselves. I depict the wigs as being worn by a spiritual essence to create a visual contrast between what can and cannot be seen in a person.
