tahir mahmood design
Tahir Mahmood is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary designer whose work bridges contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship. For over three decades, his practice has spanned product design, lighting, furniture, interiors, branding, exhibition design, and creative direction. Born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan, his work draws inspiration from the clarity of the Bauhaus movement and the craftsmanship of Mughal architecture, creating timeless designs rooted in culture and materiality. Working closely with artisans in Pakistan and Canada, he explores ceramics, wood, metal, and textiles to create objects that balance function, beauty, and storytelling. His work has been exhibited internationally, including the Venice Biennale, London Design Festival, and DesignTO. Today, he is developing collaborative platforms that connect designers, craftspeople, and industry to preserve traditional knowledge while advancing contemporary design.
